Welcome to the Hardin County Water District No. 2
We have come a long way since our humble beginning in 1968 with approximately 900 customers. Today we maintain water mains in excess of 800 miles, water connections over 17,000 and a population served of over 45,000. We continue to grow, with no drop forecasted. On an average, we produce over a billion gallons of water per year. To maintain this large system, we have a staff of 50 employees with our own maintenance, repair, and construction crews, along with customer service personnel and treatment plant personnel.
As we experience this growth, we are pursuing additional infrastructure reinforcements that will help ensure the reliability of existing water mains and facilities. Some of the major projects that we are currently undertaking are: the continuation of a 24" water main to connect with the Louisville Water Company, converting our water treatment plant to chloramines and a large wastewater project in the Nolin River Watershed.
