FAQ

We have come a long way since our humble beginning in 1968 with approximately 900 customers. Today we maintain water mains in excess of 600 miles, water connections over 15,500 and a population served of over 45,000. We continue to grow, with no drop forecasted. On an average, we produce over a billion gallons of water per year. To maintain this large system, we have a staff of 50 employees with our own maintenance, repair, and construction crews, along with customer service personnel and treatment plant personnel.

As we experience this growth, we are pursuing additional infrastructure reinforcements that will help ensure the reliability of existing water mains and facilities. Some of the major projects that we are currently undertaking are: the continuation of a 24" water main that will loop around the District’s existing water system, wastewater study and several water line extensions throughout the county.

The District is currently working on our County Extension Plan for serving the remainder of Hardin County. Phase One, Two and Three are completed and in service.  The financial information and a scope of work for Phase Four project is being complied with construction to start in 2007.  For more in depth coverage click on our News page.

The District has realized the need for wastewater collection in areas of the county for sometime.  We are currently involved in a study to determine needs and facilities to achieve this ambitious goal. For more information regarding the wastewater planning just click on that page.
