Welcome to the Hardin County Water District No. 2
The District was established in 1968 with approximately 900 customers. Today we maintain water mains in excess of 900 miles, water connections around 27,000 and a population served of over 72,000. We continue to grow, providing quality water to the region. On an average, we produce around 3 billion gallons of water per year from our three water treatment facilities. To maintain this large system, we have a staff of 70 employees with our own maintenance, repair, and construction crews, along with customer service personnel and treatment plant personnel.
As we experience this growth, we are pursuing additional infrastructure reinforcements that will help ensure the reliability of existing water mains and facilities. Some of the major projects that we are currently undertaking are: the continuation of a 24" water main to connect with the Louisville Water Company, converting our water treatment plant to chloramines and a large wastewater project in the Nolin River Watershed.
