We have come a long way since our humble beginning in
1968 with approximately 900 customers. Today we maintain water mains
in excess of 800 miles, water connections over 16,000 and a
population served of over 45,000. We continue to grow, with no drop
forecasted. On an average, we produce over a billion gallons of
water per year. To maintain this large system, we have a staff of 50
employees with our own maintenance, repair, and construction crews,
along with customer service personnel and treatment plant personnel.
As we experience this growth, we are pursuing
additional infrastructure reinforcements that will help ensure the
reliability of existing water mains and facilities. Some of the
major projects that we are currently undertaking are: the
continuation of a 24" water main that will loop around the
District’s existing water system, a connection with the Louisville Water Company, wastewater study and several water
line extensions throughout the county.
The
District is currently working on our County Extension Plan for
serving the remainder of Hardin County. Phase One, Two and Three are
completed and in service. Phase Four project is under construction
and is scheduled to be completed this year. For more in depth coverage

The District has realized the
need for wastewater collection in areas of the county for sometime.
