  Wastewater Planning

As Hardin County continues to grow, the need for reliable wastewater service becomes more and more important.  Hardin County Water District No. 2 has recognized this issue and had obtained a grant to study the wastewater needs for Hardin County.  The District can not do this alone, it will take the cooperative effort of the citizens of Hardin County, elected officials and multiple entities to make this possible.  For more information about the Wastewater Planning Study, just click here for more information.

  Automated Meter Reading Project

The District has converted all of our water meters to the Automated Meter Reading technology (AMR).  What is AMR?  AMR allows the District to read your meter through radio waves, instead of actually visiting each meter box to obtain the reading.  Why convert?  We evaluated the safety issue of reading meters and determined that AMR would not only protect our employees, but also our customers as well.  Early versions of this transmitter have been on the market for several years and have been approved by the FCC.  This transmitter will not interfere with any electronic devices, like cordless phones, garage door openers or televisions.  This transmitter uses a 3.6 volt battery and is perfectly safe to work around, even in water. Our customer service representatives will then drive through your area and collect the meter readings without visiting each meter box.  Should you notice any problems or concerns in or around the meter box, give us a call and we will be glad to come by and check it out.  We will continue to help you monitor for irregular usage as we have done in the past. Should you need to remove the lid on your meter box, we ask that you take care in the removal of the lid to avoid damaging the wiring inside.  Should have any further questions or concerns, please call our office at (270) 737-1056.

  Other Project News

Another project currently under construction by our in-house construction crew is the large 24 inch ductile iron water main around Elizabethtown.  This project will ensure hydraulic capacity and reliable pressures well into the future. The District is currently constructing the pipeline and continue until the remaining 40,000 feet is completed.  Should you want more information regarding any ongoing project, just contact our office at (270) 737-1056 and you will be directed to the proper person.

Should you have further questions or concerns about this project, please contact us at mailbox@hardincountywater2.org.
